I was going to sign up for the premium service and thought to myself, what happens if I pay the $25 and two days later Google decides to implement native push GMail to iPhones? Why would I need Nuevasync? I applaud Nuevasync for the advancements it has made, but what would be the benefit of using Nuevasync over native push?

That's a chance you'd have to take, I guess
FWIW, NuevaSync does a lot more than Google, not only in terms of the actual syncing, but they do a lot of neat stuff in the background to make the sync better.
I'm using the iPhone 3G 3.0. One example that was enough for me to make me stay with NuevaSync when Google launched their own sync service, was that every time I put any other country than USA as the home of a contact, it would still default to USA when clicking their address from the address book to get their position with the Map application. I think this was caused by a bug in the iPhone, but nevertheless, Google did not have a fix for this, but NuevaSync did.

I don't think google will launch push mail this beacause they have the android platform and one of it's unique selling point is push mail.

I'm just now trying NuevaSync and have asked myself the same question...and subsequently answered it. While I'm a huge fan of all things Google, there is one thing you will simply NEVER get with Google...technical support. Yes, you have Google forums and groups, but there you're going to wait generally several days for a reply (if you get one at all) and it's seldom from a Google employee.
My email is important to me and I feel that NuevaSync is probably the best solution option I have. I've tried Google Sync along with Gmail IMAP + Gpush for instant notification, and while that works, I still have the inconvenience of opening my iPhone, tapping Mail and waiting for Mail to go grab the new email. Is avoiding this worth $25? If you're a person with patience...probably not. If you want your email instantly and want real tech support...NuevaSync is a fine option.

Well, there you have it. Native Gmail push from Google via Exchange.
It would be great to hear some more about the Nuevasync roadmap that could help justify $25 versus free. Granted, support from Nuevasync is superb and for some users is well worth $2/month.

Agreed. I paid for Nuevasync about three days before Google launched PUSH for Windows Mobile.
I understood the "risk" I was taking in the event that Google did this, and for $25. it was worth it.
But, now that Google has offered their own capability, I'm hoping that Nuevasync has a few tricks rolled up their sleeve to keep US a step ahead of the offering from Google itself.

Well, Gmail's native push isn't working for my Google Apps account on my Moto Q9c. (And yes, I have Sync enabled as an option and used it for Calendar and Contacts) For $25/year I have a service that just works out of the box, no tweaking required. I have HTML e-mail (thanks to the recent update) and all of my calendars sync without an issue so I can retain the same organizational scheme with my calendars as I do online without having to copy events to my primary calendar or fuddle with the Google Sync management that is a bit clunky to say the least.
And even after waiting a few days after the roll-out of native push, it was still taking hours to get any sort of activity from Google's server. It wasn't my phone, or my Gmail account. NuevaSync for me was worth it. Much better than using PushEffect for my WiMo phone.

Probably want to note, that NuevaSync offered push gmail service and other synchronization before Google started to offer their equivalent services. As such, it was something beyond what Google has to offer. Additionally, the objective of NuevaSync is to offer the services that they're currently offering on a provider independent environment. For example, NuevaSync premium can do push emails for GMX, AOL, and various other mail providers that offers IMAP. Similarly, eventually, I'd guess, we'd be able to choose other calendar providers (currently google only?), and contact providers (currently google and plaxo only?).
So, if you're just looking for a push google sync service, you're free to decide whether or not to use NuevaSync to get the push, but if you're on other providers, this is an interesting service in general.
