From the list of known issues:

GMail IMAP IDLE limitation
GMail does not provide IMAP IDLE event notification for message read/unread status changes. Therefore these changes will not sync in real time to the device. Read/unread changes made in the GMail web site, or via another IMAP client will sync with a few minutes delay.

Note however that if you receive an email in the meantime (as you describe above) then it will cause the device to refresh the inbox. This will update the 'read' count to the correct value. Otherwise it'll take a few minutes for NuevaSync to check Gmail and report to your device.
dboreham wrote:Correct, it uses the same connection. The phone just adds the e-mail folders to the 'watched' list. Depending on your use pattern, battery life can improve using push e-mail because you don't do the kind of constant IMAP polling that some of us do. I think it's safe to say however that none of the current smart phones has really amazing battery life. I did a 'field test' myself a couple of weeks ago where I used the phone exclusively for e-mail all day, every day and I was able to go from early morning into the evening without recharging. You'd be lucky to get a second day's life without a recharge though.

Thanks for the quick response. You're definitely right about smartphone life - it seems like processing power is going up and up while battery technology stays in one place. At least we're managing to reduce power consumption of the electronics and get more battery life out of the same capacity. I currently have my phone set to check every 15 minutes, so hopefully there will be a small increase in battery life. I'm not too concerned though, as I usually manage to make it through a day without recharging.

Out of interest, how are things handled at your end? Do you poll the IMAP server or use the IDLE feature to check for new mail?
One issue that concerns me is how this will affect battery life. I understand that the push calendar service already maintains a "heartbeat" connection to the Exchange server to allow push capabilities. Does the mail service use this same signal? If so, it seems like push email will be penalty-free in terms of power consumption (provided that you are already using the calendar).
dboreham wrote:We could have a special 'wipe password' perhaps that need to be entered.

I think a suitable system would be to require the user to enter their (usual) password and check a box to confirm that they understand what will happen. That should stop kids being able to trigger a wipe from an account accidentally left logged in, but minimise inconvenience for the user.
NickH wrote:I now have all my calendars back but the coloured dots on the phone don't match up with the colours on Google calendars on my PC, will this sort itself out in time?

No. This is an Apple rather than a Nuevasync issue. There's no easy way to set calendar colours, and I don't think this has changed in 3.0
All seems well now for me. I guess it's just a case of being patient.
Thanks for getting back to us. Hopefully everything will be back to normal soon
I too am having the same problem. I noticed that after the upgrade the phone seemed to be syncing quite frequently (maybe once every 5-10 minutes) so I deleted and readded the NuevaSync account and now it won't sync my contacts and calendar (though everything shows up OK on the NuevaSync status page).
Was just about to come here and post about this myself, but your bug fix seems to have done the trick
Any news?

That too has been my experience (though not with as in-depth a test!). Also using an iPhone 3G.

Question about this : did the contact that already had a picture get the picture via the service, or directly from the phone camera (or some other on-phone source) ?
(We've tested both cases, but it would be useful to know which one you're seeing).

No - I assigned the contact a picture via Google Contacts which was then downloaded to the device.

I've noticed this too. If you remove the pictures from Google Contacts they still persist on the phone, even after you turn contacts on/off.

Likewise
I just created an event back in January that repeats daily and it showed up on my iPhone calendar today, so it's not a general problem. I suggest you contact support@nuevasync.com and give them more details of your device, the calendar event etc.
