I have been transferring my Yahoo Contacts to Google desktop through another program and then letting them automatically sync to my cell phone (Droid). I would like to take Google desktop out of the picture and was lucky enough to come across Nuevasync.
My question/ concern is: when I use Nuevasync for the first time, should I erase all of my phone and Google desktop contacts. I am guessing that the first transfer from Nuevasync to my phone may replicate (double) my existing phone contacts and then sync back to Google desktop. I know this may be an elementary question, but I am new to the smartphone and could use some guidance.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me, John

Hi, I'm not sure specifically about Google Desktop, but as a rule the modern phones like Android keep contacts in separate sets on the phone (contacts from NuevaSync, contacts from desktop sync, contacts from Google, contacts from Facebook, etc). Therefore typically you don't get a "sync loop" in a situation like you describe.
However, we recommend to not risk upsetting the sync gods: first ensure that your contacts are as you want them at Yahoo. Then remove the sync relationship with Google Desktop. If that did not remove the existing phone contacts then delete them (take a phone backup or a contact data dump if there's any chance of data existing in those contacts that isn't copied elsewhere already). Now setup sync with your NuevaSync account, configured to sync Y!
