Hello everyone and especially to the nuevasync developpers.
I'm really very happy with nuevasync for cal & contacts and I'm checking daily if tasks are available...
Do you have a date?
thanks again and all the best
PS:Just a short edit to mention that I'm not sure I placed that topic in the right forum.

I third it. Tasks would be really helpful, particularly if there would be a way to get them into Outlook as well.

This probably does belong in the 'new features' section.
Anyway, tasks sync is quite easy for us to implement but so far we don't have a good place to sync them to.
In addition there is no tasks support on the iPhone (which is the device most users have).
We've considered writing our own tasks web site but so far haven't started that project.

Thanks for the detailed answer.
I understand the iphone user issue, however if it's that easy to implement, why not implement it for WM, that'll make no change for iphone users and would make us very happy ?
PS: I realised too late that I posted in the wrong section, and I don't think I can change the section, probably webmasters can.

+1 for the easy implementation.
I also posted it in the corresponding ->thread

Cool - great to hear its easy to implement. Can't you sync with the tasks applet in google labs or is that applet incomplete/too simple?
On a side note, approx what percentage of your users are Windows Mobile (like me )?
Thx

As far as I know the Google tasks feature has no API support at present. If it did, that'd be an obvious place to sync to.
Looking at all devices that have used the service, WM accounts for just over 10%. However the number may be higher if you consider active devices since WM users tend to stick with the service (there are more 'drive by' users with iPhones). I don't have stats on active devices per device type to hand though.

No point in re-inventing the wheel... one of the best (and I've been led to belive, popular) tasks websites out there at the moment is RTM (Remember The Milk) and it has API support! I use it, and it's a brilliant product.
Thing is they have a paid option for syncing with iPhones, Blackberrys and WM so I don't know how happy they'll be if you start using it for NuevaSync...

We did begin to work on support for RTM about a year ago but their API proved rather tiresome to work with and the project was abandoned.

may i suggest Toodledo as a solution for the place that you sync tasks to/from:
http://www.toodledo.com/
toodledo currently provides the most free functionality of any web-based todo list, a comparison vs. remember the milk and other solutions is provided here:
http://www.toodledo.com/info/compare.php
they support a wide variety of synchronization and connection options, listed here:
http://www.toodledo.com/connections.php
this includes a free iphone/ipodtouch application, which would suit your majority iphone users well:
http://www.toodledo.com/info/iphone.php
as well as a free desktop outlook sync application:
http://www.chromadrake.com/ChromaticDragon/software/ToodledoSyncInfo.aspx
and a full developer API for you to build your sync'ing conduit:
http://www.toodledo.com/info/api_doc.php

Indeed. I am a user and you may well see us add Toodledo task sync support in the future.

also worth pointing out that the palm pre is going to be a very popular phone and has an interesting characteristic of being purely cloud-based for data. they were able to get away with this for calendar only because of the prevalence and popularity of free google calendar. but as of date it is unclear where the default webstore for tasks will be. toodledo could build an app, but only a service like nuevasync could enable true push-sync tasks since your conduit would be exchange server, which is already natively supported by the pre. without someone like nuevasync solving this problem, pre users will be limited to backing up their tasks using the builtin backup service, but won't have a web-based or outlook-syncable solution.

You've got to think that a big company like Palm will have thought of this. Mind you, I had the same feeling in 1996 when I got my first Palm and we still don't have the perfect cloud PIM solution yet...

thought about it yes, but ready to provide a solution now, does not seem to be the case. looks like a cloud task sync may have been cut from the 1.0 release. they may be holding out for a google task sync API or planning to bin that as a professional need and redirect users to commercial sync software. but i really don't think the average person who wants to use a pre for tasks is going to be content keeping it locked in the phone.
then again, there's no guarantee they implemented full exchange task sync'ing yet either.
