A few users have asked if the forthcoming iPhone/iPod touch 4.0 firmware works with NuevaSync.
Here's what we know:
1. We have tested the service with 4.0 beta devices over the past few months.
2. There are hundreds of users connecting to the service with 4.0 beta/GM devices.
3. So far there have been no problems reported that have been confirmed as 4.0 issues.
4. Until Apple releases the new firmware, and we have very large numbers of users using it,
it's hard to be 100% sure that there are no rare or unusual potential problems.
So a) there's no reason not to try 4.0 with NuevaSync : we expect it to work, but
b) if you're not feeling lucky then wait a day or two after the initial release just to
be sure it's ok.

Update on iOS4 status: we did find an issue that affected some users where messages could not be sent.
Once a message was stuck in the outbox, it tended to gum up sync in general, so it may not have been
obvious that the message send operation was the cause.
A fix for this issue was deployed earlier today. There are no further known iOS4 issues.

So, a few hours after iOS4 was released, we've had no issues reported.
Therefore it seems safe to go ahead with the update if you've been holding off on account of NuevaSync concerns.

There is an issue at the moment that people cannot use exchange with google settings, on their iphones to sync googles contacts - calendar and email is currently fine.
So currently over the air synching from Google is currently "broken" when it comes to contacts.
This Nuevasync Service on the other hand works perfectly, so using your I can sync over the air all three google services.
I am not sure if you will see an increase in your usage over the next few days whilst Google gets this faux-pas fixed, just a heads up.

Reading through the posts on Google's forum it appears people are saying that the updated devices are resyncing and overloading the service. If that's what happened, we have extensive experience with this syndrome. When Apple released the 3.0 update, they did so with such pre-release hype that a significant proportion of all users tried to update within a few minutes of the release going up for download. The resulting load spike caused us trouble and we had to deploy additional hardware. Since then, we've implemented special countermeasures designed to ensure continued service under this kind of upgrade workload. This is quite a sophisticated solution--more than just simple client shedding or throttling. Anyway, that new code was made ready for yesterday's iOS4 release and our operations staff monitored the service closely through the iOS4 release period. I'd love to say that it was the reason our service stayed up, but in fact we didn't see a high enough load for the new code to kick in.

I'm still finding issues syncing my contacts when linking to m.google.com even after 24hours, calendar and mail are fine. Google on their forums say that there is new code, but people are resorting to synching Google Contacts through iTunes, which is not the best when you are away from your desk for days.
This is the reason why I commented on the forum here, thinking that there might be some spillover to nuevasync from m.google.com
This service syncs without problem, so for me it's a godsend.

Contacts tends to be the canary in the coal mine because users notice when they don't have the correct number of contacts. Or perhaps there's a capacity problem with the contacts data store (that's hard to believe though).

Thanks. We do put considerable effort into providing reliable sync service.

Indeed, I have tried this service since google experienced these sync issues, and found Nuevasync to work a treat.
Personally found a slight delay (10-15 mins) in the calendars updating from Google to device, no real delay from device to Google.
Give serious consideration to subscribing after my 5 day trail completes

Hi, the 'from google' delay on calendar changes is because there's no mechanism available to be notified of changes (Google uses an internal mechanism for their sync service that we don't have access to). You'll find that the delay is shorter for premium users (as opposed to the trial service) because the servers used for premium accounts have a shorter polling interval. You can force an update on the iPhone by closing the calendar app, waiting a few seconds then opening it. That triggers a manual sync.

Hi dboreham ,
That clarifies it, thanks. Did not realise the trial accounts used the default servers.
Am sure that the full blown account on the premium server will be really good.
Great product & thanks for the reply on my other question: http://forum.nuevasync.com/forum/posts/list/287.page
Thanks.

I just setup my new Iphone 4 today - transition from a windows mobile phone. Seems like it imported everything and separated the neuvasync exchange account with other exchange accounts. Doesn't look like tasks are supported with Nuevasync on Iphone, but thats probably more of an Iphone thing than Nuevasync.
On an unrelated note, how well does the Iphone 4 handle email push when it is in sleep mode? I haven't really extensively tested it, but it looks like I get emails when its asleep (or looks like it is asleep)

Hi, couple quick answers:
1. Yes, no tasks support yet on the iPhone (but there are plenty of tasks apps that sync themselves, such as Toodledo).
2. Yes it pushes while asleep.

Thanks Dboreham -
I have a couple other questions as well, interesting behavior I have seen on the Iphone -
- Deleted emails - they don't seem to sync those deletions to GMail. The emails are removed from the device, but If I go back to GMail, the emails are still in my inbox. I can "move" the email to my deleted folder and that works - but a regular deletion doesn't seem to work correct.
Regular activesync on Exchange removes the emails from my Inbox.
- Does remote wipe work on Iphone? I would guess that it doesn't but perhaps it does. (If this stuff is in the FAQ, let me know - I remember reading it about Windows Mobile, but I haven't looked at the Iphone-related items). And if it is a feature on the Iphone, does it just remove the Nuevasync exchange account, or does it do a full-on wipe, removing everything?

You might just need to refresh the GMail web page or something because the iPhone will send deletes immediately (your Windows Mobile phone would delay sending deletes to save cell data usage).

Remote wipe works. More details here: http://wiki.nuevasync.com/wiki/bin/view/Public/remoteWipe

Not a Nuevasync issue.
Folks on iPhone 3G may want to hesitate before upgrading to iOS 4.
I am hearing lots of stories of 3G model running real slow on iOS 4
and even loosing data and apps.
I used my upgrade kitty on an iPad 32gb 3G.
Must say, what a delightful bit of kit.
Nuevasync syncing nicely to iPad and iPhone.
