Hi there!

I just cancelled my data plan and I have tried to receive push email notifications over WIFI but I found out that activesync doesn't keep the connection alive with the email server, as a result there is no push email experience even if it's scheduled to receive email "as items arrive".

Any clue?...thank you in advance for your great effort.

Regards.

It depends on the type of device. Some do and some don't. The iPhone for example doesn't push over WiFi.
Well, actually it does, it's keeping WiFi active when the device sleeps that's the challenge.
If an iPhone only has WiFi (no cell data) it will wake up every so often, turn on WiFi, and fetch mail.
It will push for the few minutes while it keeps WiFi turned on, but that's not much use to the owner.

There are devices that do a great job pushing over Wifi (the Nokia N900 for example).
