I sync from mac 'address book' through plaxo through nuevasync to my
iphone.
Earlier today, my iphone contacts went from over 1000 to zero. I had
changed nothing at any point along the sync process.
Plaxo and Address Book on my mac are fine and unchanged. I have reset
the device in 'device management,' turned the iphone off and on, as well as turned syncing off and
on in the iphone itself, to no avail.
ideas?

The same happened to me today! I already have created a support ticket, but no answer yet ...
Hopefully the guys from Nuevasync can help us.

First time in 1,5 years that the sync. is not working ... *thumbs up*

It looks like there was a problem with the Plaxo API service earlier today. Is it still not working?

The problem is definitely with Plaxo. You should find that if you disable Plaxo sync on our web site, your calendar sync will begin working.

Is the problem temporary? Do we know how long it will be like this?
I have over 379 contacts (business phone) and I don't want to type them all into another server if this is going to be fixed relatively soon...
bit of a technophobe - probably shouldn't even have an iphone

Well, we're pretty sure this is permanent at this point. Plaxo have been saying that the API we use will be discontinued for some time now so it seems likely that they've turned it off for good.

It should be possible to export your contacts from Plaxo and import into Google. There's also a Plaxo iPhone sync app (I believe -- haven't tried it myself).

Once we know more about this I'll post an update.

How do I get my contacts back? I logged on to Nuevasync and Plaxo was disabled (I had it enabled before)
All my contacts are gone and I need them back!

Your contacts are still at Plaxo (they're not on your phone at present because the phone decided to delete them and re-fetch a new set from our service, which didn't work because Plaxo's API service isn't working).

I believe Plaxo has an iPhone app that will sync your contacts from there onto your phone.

Ok, I take that back. Plaxo does not have an iPhone app (there's not an app for that, it seems).
They offer sync with desktop Outlook, and tethered sync from there to the iPhone.
If you want over the air contact sync with your iPhone you'll need to export or sync your contacts
to somewhere that they can be synced from (e.g. Google).

I just spoke with Plaxo who admit they are blocking Nuevasync for "Misuse of the API". It's really a shame. Any other bi-directional ways to sync Outlook to my iPhone over the air? I'm still using Nuevasync for calendars so I need to be able to do that as well because you can only use one over the air service at a time.
Thanks!

So it is a "feature" of Nuevasync to delete my iphone's address book while it is unable to fetch an updated address book from Plaxo?
Would be more logical to first do a check to see if you can connect, and fetch an updated list before whiping my iphone!
I'm in big sh*t since I am unable to export my contacts from Plaxo, i'm not a premium member.

Thankfully I knew this was an issue from earlier. I also have a sync to Outlook.

You can sign up for premium Plaxo for free for a month. Give them an old CC or something that won't work as they won't charge you for a month.

Good luck!

It's a feature of the iPhone. If it can't get sync service to work for a while it'll delete the contact data and attempt to re-fetch a new set (which clearly it can't do if Plaxo's API isn't working).
To be honest I didn't know that Plaxo has no way to export contacts from their free service. Right now we have no way to get at your contact data either, unfortunately.

Does their Outlook desktop sync thing not work for free accounts now?
