Today we released beta support for tasks syncing (you need a device that has tasks -- the iPhone does not, Windows Mobile, Nokia and Palm Pre do).
This feature is available to Premium Service users and also via the Premium Service free trial.
More information here : http://nuevasync.blogspot.com/2009/09/new-sync-tasks-with-toodledo.html

I would be interested to know what your future plans are for this service. I am a huge Toodledo fan, and I know WM wouldn't support subtasks which is really too bad, but how about syncing something with categories (Folders or Status maybe)?

Hi, we plan to map additional fields like this, but the thinking is we should get some real user feedback on what's most useful (and you've provided the first such feedback !).

For those interested in trying out task sync via an Exchange connection on their iPhone, iMExchange by RERLSoft might be worth a look. For testing it, iMLite might be an option (limitation: read only access).
(I am not in any way affiliated to them.)

I did try this for a free trial three days, but I don't really want to go outside of using my google account to keep up with everything.

I couldn't find a way to have toodledo automatically update from my google task list - is there a way to make this work?

Google doesn't provide any way to access your tasks data. Toodledo by contrast does.

dboreham is correct about Google's lack of an API to allow anything to sync with their tasks. However, Toodledo does have gadgets that allow you to have your Toodledo tasks in Gcal, Gmail, iGoogle, etc.: http://www.toodledo.com/widget/google_gadget.php

Toodledo tasks sync is now out of beta. Thanks to everyone who helped with the beta process by reporting problems.

More feedback for you - Toodledo category sync support is REALLY needed. For those who use tasks a lot (like me - I have several hundred in Toodledo), not having categories severely hampers usefulness on the handheld (a Windows Mobile 6.1 device in my case).

Thanks - great product!

Sounds interesting. What kind of categories support would you like to see?

The way we have it working right now categories map to the "tags" of each task in Toodledo. So a tags value of "TagA, TagB, TagC" at Toodledo has the categories TagA, TagB, and TagC on the device.

On WM (using 6.5 as an example) you can then go under Menu->Filter->CategoryName to show only tasks with that category, eg, Menu->Filter->TagA.

I also have great need for category synchronization. As I expect is the case with the other user, I need the synchronization to be between Toodledo folders (rather than tags) and the handheld categories (WM6 for me as well). Folders seem to be the primary way to organize tasks in Toodledo, rather than tags.

Thanks.

Still on the Toodledo sync, and as a GTD user, I believe that the sync should be "contexts" on Toodledo to "categories" on WM. Tags are the less useful for entering data on Toodledo, as the have to be entered in a completely manual way. Contexts and folders have dropdown boxes, making it easier to enter data. For my GTD implementation this would be extremely useful.
