The sender address for outgoing messages is provided by the device. If you mis-type your e-mail address when setting up sync on your device, then messages will be sent with that incorrect sender address. Most devices do not supply a sender address display name and so the service will insert your first and last name from your account record, if present.
Where can i set my account record name?

The email address that I have registered with nuevasync is my gmail address, that I use as a central email and fetch another emails, but I want the sender to be an email address different from the gmail one. How can I do that?

Hi, the sender address (person@comany.com etc) comes from your device. So just change it there.
Currently we pick up the 'display name' (e.g. 'Fred Jones') from your account. Right now you can't
edit those fields. We're going to add that capability really soon, but in the meantime if you need the
values changed just e-mail support and we'll fix it up in the database.

Good question !
On the iPhone, go : settings \ mail calendar, contacts... \ <the sync account> \ Account Info \ Email
and type in whatever you want there.

One other note is that GMail re-writes the from address to be your GMail address when a mail is sent through their SMTP server. You'll need to customize your SMTP server settings in NeuvaSync to use a non-GMail server to keep it from getting overwritten.

I think gmail does not rewrite the adress, if the account is authorized (https://mail.google.com/mail/#settings/accounts).
at least my testing shows that...

On my WinMo device (I have a Sprint Touch Pro 2 with a flashed 6.5.3 ROM), I can get to that option by going to the Email options, under "E-mail Sync Options," "Advanced..." button. There is an option on that page to change the send from email address, but it is grayed out and I can't change it. I was able to change it there when I was downloading my gmail via gmail's imap server. I prefer the push email, but I also want to use a different "send from" address. I even tried stopping active sync from syncing and quitting the process, but that didn't help either.

Hi, not all phones allow the sender name to be changed on the device. We have some documentation on the web site about how to do this for Windows Mobile.
(From this page: http://wiki.nuevasync.com/wiki/bin/view/Public/pushEmailFaq) :
How do I change the sender Email address for messages composed on my phone?
If you have an iPhone, then just change the Email address configured in the sync account on your phone. If you prefer, you can also override the sender address from the phone in the advanced Email settings page on our web site. Windows Mobile device owners need to use the web site override method because those devices don't have a sender address (the email address you enter when setting up sync is only used for autoconfiguration, never as a sender address). Note: if you use AOL email, don't change your sender address because AOL's SMTP servers will refuse to send your messages (they check that the sender address matches your AOL account).
Remember that if you are using Google's SMTP server to sent, it will also override the sender address on the message unless you add the address to the validated list on the GMail web site.

Ok, I figured it out. Although the settings don't change on the device (for Windows Mobile), you can change the "send from" name by logging into your account, clicking on "setup" next to email, on the page that comes up click on "advanced settings" near the bottom, then you will see the override email option on the advanced settings page. I sent a test email from my phone and the email appeared as it should with the correct "send from" email and name.

Right. The device can send the sender address, but some don't. For those devices we provide a feature on the web site that allows the user to override the sender address. If that setting is not present, the service will use the user's registered email address (for the case where the device doesn't send anything).
